This long route follows a succession of roads starting in Clinton with South Main Street, passes Gate 40, and turns to the right onto the cemetery road, or causeway, between Sandy Pond and Coachlace pond. Then left at South Meadow Road for a mile and a half into Boylston near Sawyer’s Mills and then right onto East Main Street which runs through West Boylston’s Villages to the Old Stone Church whence it becomes North Main Street to an end Oakdale.

This high road follows the valley rim, descending to valley floor only at West Boylston’s Lower Village.

Along the way this commercial route directly connects the Bigelow Carpet Company, Sawyer’s Mills, Clarendon Mills, Rice’s Mill and the West Boylston Manufacturing Company.
